This page lists local gay bookstores. Store details can be found by following the links in the listings. Bookmark this page. Detail pages for the various stores may move without notice.
Site Criteria
These are the criteria for a store to be listed here:
The store must have a real-space, walk-in location where retail sales are made. It cannot be only a web or mail-order store.
The store must be self-identified as a Gay, Lesbian, or Gay & Lesbian store. This means no "bi-curious" stores, no "feminist store with a strong lesbian section," no "leather store with lots of gay books," no "gay-friendly" stores. The answer must be unambiguously "yes" to one of these questions: "Are you a gay store?" "Are you a lesbian store?" or "Are you a gay & lesbian store?"
The store must sell gay, lesbian, or gay & lesbian hardback books and trade paperbacks in the walk-in store. In other words, it cannot be a porn or video store with only pulp erotica and magazines. It may also sell videos or pulp porn or sexual gadgets or coffee, and it may even have booths in the back, but the real books have to be there.
Listings are free to stores that I believe are qualified, and cannot be bought otherwise.
