How Lars Eighner's Home Page Bookstore Works

I am paid a commision on sales of items on my bookstore pages when the purchaser clicks through from my site and for many other items you may purchase from Amazon.com by using Amazon search boxes and banners on my sites ("clicking through"). This does not increase the cost of items to you, and you will recieve the same discounts and specials that you would get by going to Amazon directly.

My commission is slightly higher, still without increasing the price to you, when you click through on a text link to a title instead of the same title or cover in an Amazon box. Amazon boxes come in several forms including single product boxes and keyword or browse boxes with several products (typically seen in my side bars and at the bottoms of pages). These are IFRAMEs served by Amazon. Sometimes the server gets confused and sends a generic box or the wrong box altogether. This can be fixed by reloading a page (sometimes). If it isn't fixed, the box can take you to the wrong place. My text links, however, should always work, which is another good reason to use them. Of course, I have been known to make mistakes, so if there is something wrong with one of my text links, please let me know.

Amazon.com carries vitually every book in print, and some which are difficult or impossible to obtain elsewhere. Thus I can feature items that I truly recommend or can even list an item merely to pan it. Amazon doesn't tell me which items to feature on my pages and is not responsible for the content of my pages. Items are sold, shipped, and billed by Amazon.com. This is not the home page of any Amazon store.

International customers should order from the Amazon site in their own country if there is one, even if I don't have pages linked to that site. International shipping charges and customs can be very significant. Some items, such as magazine subscriptions cannot be shipped internationally in any event because of prohibitive postage or shipping costs or copyright restrictions.

If you see boxes on my pages that seem to identify you by name, it is because you have an Amazon account and there is a cookie in your browser that fills in your name when there is an appropriate place for it in a box. It does not mean that either I or Amazon know that you are browsing my pages. You can use your browser functions to delete the cookie if you want, but that will result in your losing access to many Amazon features. If you have an Amazon account but don't see your name, it may be because you are using a browser that does not have your Amazon cookie or you have deleted your Amazon cookie either accidentally or on purpose.

For keyword searching in Amazon search boxes, use any combination of important words from the title and parts of the author's name you are sure of, for example: Lars Travels Lizbeth. You can also use the ISBN if you know it.

There are Amazon Honor System boxes on almost all of my pages. These do not take you to the Amazon shopping pages.
